 National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership

NPQSL is for those individuals who not only have responsibility for leading a team, but are also involved in leading a range of issues that affect the whole school or organisation. This includes those who are, or are aspiring to be, a senior leader with cross-school responsibilities, e.g. a Director of a Teaching School Alliance (TSA).

The qualification will support you in becoming a highly effective senior leader with the skills, confidence and knowledge to contribute to the strategic development of your school or organisation as part of the senior leadership team.


We will tailor the programme to meet your particular priorities through your choice of in-school project.
It is expected participants will complete the programme within 12 months.

National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership

NPQML is aimed at individuals with responsibility for leading a team, including leaders of key stage, subject, curriculum, heads of department and pastoral leaders. This includes those who are, or are aspiring to be, a middle leader with cross-school responsibilities, e.g. a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE).

The qualification will support you in becoming a highly effective middle leader, with the skills, confidence and knowledge to drive successful team performance and improved classroom practice across your team.
It is expected participants will complete the programme within 12 months.

SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE – Update 21st July 2020


The Department for Education (DfE) has communicated that scholarships funding is now currently exceeding budgets available so that funding may not now be available for all programmes commencing before the 31st March 2021. Currently, the DfE are only guaranteeing programmes commencing before the 31st July. As a provider we are submitting applicant details on the 3rd August 2020.


Therefore at this stage we can only guarantee scholarship funding for participants registered and accepted onto programmes by midday 3rd August 2020.

  • The current NPQ scholarship eligibility funding criteria for state-maintained schools in England is:
  • All schools that are in a category 5 or 6 area.
  • All schools that are part of a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) which has a footprint (at least one school) in a category 5 or 6 area.
  • All schools that are part of a Diocese which has a footprint (at least one school) in a category 5 or 6 area.
  • Example of footprint: The participant is currently working in a school in a category 4, 3 , 2 or 1 area and wouldn’t be normally be eligible for funding; however, because the participant’s school is part of a MAT or Diocese, and within that MAT / diocese there is at least one school in a category 5 or 6 area, the participant is therefore eligible for funding.


The scholarships are for the full cost of your chosen NPQ.
